How can I get out of the payday loan hole?

I have fallen into this payday loan hole, and I can seem to get myself out. What would be the best solution to pay them off fast, if I don%26#039;t have the money. Should I try and get a personal loan?|||The first thing you must do is to get a grip on your spending. Payday loans should only be used for a dire emergency. If you get a payday loan before you%26#039;ve paid back a previous one you%26#039;re falling into a debt trap.

OK - so what do you do? Take all your credit cards except for the one with the least amount of credit left and cut them up. It doesn%26#039;t matter if you owe money on them: you%26#039;ll still have to repay them but at least you won%26#039;t add to your debt. Use the one left only if you absolutely have to. Leave it at home: use cash for everything. Do it now.

If you absolutely cannot manage to repay your loans from your salary, then consider debt consolidation. This doesn%26#039;t make the debt go away, it just smooths it over a longer period. But you must resolve not to use it as an excuse to get into even more debt because that could land you in bankruptcy.

You say you%26#039;re in a hole. You know what they say? When you%26#039;re in a hole, stop digging!

Good luck.|||A personal loan might be the answer. Sometimes people use mortgage loans as well to bring them selves current w/ debt. However you must realize that its much easier to fall in to the trap then it is to get out. So be sure whatever avenue you take, dont fall in to the same habits.|||Whatever you do, dont follow my example. I ended up with 3 payday loans. I paid the minimum for as long as I could. Now all of them are past due and there is no way, short a miracle, that I will be able to pay them back. I will probably end up going Chapter 7. My lesson learned is that payday loans are ok for very small amounts.

What is your opinion of payday loan establishments?

In some areas of the country they are trying to ban payday loan stores, citing predatory practices and unfair interest rates. These places have clearly listed their rates, as high as they are, on paper and listed in signed contracts. Opponents of the proposed law banning payday loans say that the extra fees are better than not getting money for a needed car repair, a bill that must be paid (electric, gas) or bouncing a check because the money was not in the account. What%26#039;s your take on these places. Explain your position.|||I would never allow myself to get into the trap of using them. That is why they are considered evil because people have used payday loans as a way to pay for their lives from one paycheck to the next. And that is not what they are meant for; they are short-term credit establishments.

But there are people out there who do not have a stable income and, let%26#039;s face it, there are some stupid people out there. And that is why I think some regulation needs to be made. But I also believe that people need to accept some personal responsibility for their money and lifestyle decisions.|||An IMPORTANT RULE TO FOLLOW!:

Loan only from established, landbased, lenders, who are members of CFSA. Loan only from one lender during any given time. Report Abuse

|||I think the payday loan stores have a place. The folks who use them would be unable to borrow the money anywhere else to tide them over in an emergency. Of course, the users should be aware that this is a one-time, short-term fix. But they really have no other options.

It%26#039;s much the same with the various %26quot;rent-to-own%26quot; appliance centers. The folks who use that method to buy a TV or appliance don%26#039;t have the option of walking into Sears and getting credit. Unfortunately, they end up paying many times the worth of the appliance before they own it.

It is the same old story...Rich folks get the elevator; poor folks get the shaft!|||I been through the payday lending trap... I wouldn%26#039;t recommend anyone to go there unless you borrow what you can afford to pay back.. They will lend you the money and you will have to pay the money lent plus the fee back in full on payday.. Example, You borrow $200, by payday you have to pay $250 back in full. If you cannot pay in full you will have to pay the fee $50 and the next payday, you still will have to pay them $250 and it%26#039;s a cycle till it%26#039;s paid.. They charge at least 300% interest no that loan... You will fall in that trap and wasted your hard earn money on these places...|||Out here in AZ, a lot of Mexican immigrants have no bank account, so they use those places to cash checks. Many people want to make life hard on Mexicans, and therefore try to reduce the number of Payday loan places or make it harder for them to do business. It%26#039;s a form of closet racism.|||They seem like an ok idea to get you past a hard time but you do better pawning something interest wise than a payday loan. If you default on them they pound your bank account daily overdrawing it and costing you numerous bank charges. They should be made illegal.|||My opinion is that if your financial situation is so dire that you%26#039;re considering using one, you%26#039;d be much, much better off selling something - anything - you own and don%26#039;t immediately need.|||It%26#039;s better to get a loan from a reputable loan store than from some website online. You can find virtually every payday loan center in america by going to www.paydayfinder.com. It%26#039;s a free online directory of payday loan centers.

What are some reliable payday loan sites?

Has anyone ever gotten a payday loan? I am in an emergency and can definitely pay this back by next pay day, however, I don%26#039;t know which payday loan company to trust. Any suggestions?|||By my experiences, and alot of serious research, you should only work with established, land-based, payday lenders. Many of them also have on-line sites. Also, make absolutely certain that you are dealing with a member of CFSA. CFSA has strict rules and regulations that their member lenders have to follow, these rules and regs are there to protect you, the borrower.

Additionally, do not, never ever, borrow from more than one payday lender at a time. That is exactly how many people get into trouble with payday loans, by over extending them selves beyond the qualified amount given by a lender. Too many of these people then accuse and blame the payday loan industry for creating their troubles, when it was their decision, that they made, to over-extend themselves.

One of my personal favorite lenders is www.moneytreeinc.com

Also, research www.cfsa.net to see why that is so important.

How do payday loan places prey on the poor?

How do payday loan places prey on the poor? How do they keep people trapped in an endless cycle? What makes people use pay day loan places to begin with?|||People who use pay day loans probably can%26#039;t get credit anywhere else due to damaged credit and had something come up that needed to be paid right away that had they an emergency fund would have covered (flat tire, unexpected bill, illness). People who are using these types of places are probably already living paycheck to paycheck already so that they%26#039;ll never be able to get out of the cycle of the pay day loan. States that allow people to have more than one pay day loan out at once really open them self to trouble, because then they%26#039;ll start using one to pay the other and not really pay off either. Not to mention the fees are steep, but if you can%26#039;t get help anywhere else...they are a better choice than what the bank charges you for over the limit and overdraft fees. I think they have a legitimate place in our society, although not pretty. It%26#039;s a nature of the financial envirnoment right now. It%26#039;s really hard to get up out of it.|||The maximum loan you qualify for will be based on around 25% of your gross monthly pay. This is a proven, and common sense, calculation of what is generally reasonably payable by most people. this also means that the %26quot;poor%26quot; can not be %26quot;preyed%26quot; upon by payday lenders. Who thinks payday loan companies should be banned in every state?

I fell into the payday loan trap, which I struggled my way out of. Now when I see someone going into one of those places, I just want to run grab them and pull them in the opposite direction! I hate predatory lenders.|||I think it makes more sense to teach Personal Finances rather than Geometry/Calc/higher level math, as most people would benefit much more from learning about interest rates, savings accounts, Roth IRAs, credit cards, mortgages, etc.

Payday advance companies will always exist as long as the market proves there is a need for it. There is a need primarily because children aren%26#039;t educated in how to manage their income versus their expenses.|||I don%26#039;t understand how they can operate legally now. They definitely exceed the legal threshold for usury laws.

But I most definitely think we should have required classes starting in elementary school on financial management, including record keeping, banking, budgets, credit, etc.|||they dont trick you in to getting a loan from them... its your responsiblty to be responsible with your money... i have on occassion since my divorce needed one.... and it came it handy.... try using a budget|||I don%26#039;t think they should be banned but,i think they should regulated more as to the interest they are charging on those loans.Consumers need to be more responsible when taking these loans because these people charge more interest than the mob.|||they should be banned. they take advantage of that scared and helpless feeling you get when you got to have money now and are afraid of a bank or loan financial company turning you down.|||yes yes yes, they take advantage of the usually poor and are loan sharks that are illegal.....if they can do it then why cant the mafia

Payday Loan?

We are in need of some money until payday and I was wondering what payday loan website is good. I know some say payday loans are bad but they are only bad if you dont pay it back the next paycheck and my husband gets a bonus next week so we will be paying it back next week. Anyone have an idea of a good site?|||I%26#039;d ask family or friends before I%26#039;d pay the outrageous fees those places want.

Have you considered evaluating the junk in the garage or your closets that you could put up on Craigslist.org and sell to raise cash you won%26#039;t have to pay interest on?|||I would suggest you a website that has low interest rates: http://www.credit.com/r/cash_a... . They barrow up to $1500.

|||Just to let you know, the payday loans are so terrible because they have interest that is so high that you end up repaying a lot more than you borrowed. The cost of borrowing from these places can be as high as the equivalent of 75% interest.

Even if your husband is getting a bonus, and you pay the loan off you still may be starting off the week with less money because of what you have to pay in fees. What if another emergency arises? You%26#039;ll end up going back to the company again - this is how the cycle of dependency starts.

If you need money fast, try getting an interest free loan from family or friends, a short-term loan from a bank (you can apply and be approved for a line of credit within minutes) or going to a pawn shop. Please don%26#039;t take a chance on these pay-day loan organizations. They are a total rip off, and they should be illegal.|||Research the options on this website.
